Studio Concept Landscape Architects where approached to come up with innovative concept design solutions that would enable the space to operate as both memorial and hospitality garden during different times of the year.
The Harris Garden as it is named, is a walled garden space in memory of the late Lord Harris, a patron of the club. The Garden has added meaning to those members who are allowed to scatter Ashe’s of loved ones in the rose borders.
During the year the garden space is run commercially and the garden is transformed to host fine dining and champagne bar and entertainment during the match season.
Our design brief had to allow for temporary tent structures as shelter that formed part of a operational layout and service requirements. Once the season was over the structures were too be removed and the garden should be transformed back to a memorial space for reflection, contemplation and sitting.
The design options work by treating the boundaries to a new modern theme, with clipped hedges, box headed horn-beams, modern screen fencing and lush shrub and ground cover planting. The interior garden area centers onto water features that animates the space and adds value to both the event and garden seasons.
