Set withing a 7 Acre exclusive country estate, Concept Landscape Architects developed a landscape masterplan for the entire site and clients requirements. This was also to compliment a new development to the house that included a new swimming pool building and garden roof above. The landscape design connects the house to the gardens beyond and the existing lake through a series a garden spaces that becomes larger in scale as the landscape enfolds.
The arrival experience and entrance gardens have an eclectic mix of perennial & ornamental grasses and is interspersed with land art and sculpture. These are designed as winding metal edges in the ground plan from Corten steel, etched screens that create views and focal points against a back drop of mature Rhododendron and lush vegetation.
The Roof Garden Concept ontop of the new swimming pool building is based on patterns of water. The planting and hard surfaces rippling against each-other and create a shimmering pattern whilst carving out usable areas for entertaining and socializing. Adjacent and at the lower level to the roof garden landscape terrace and Japanese styled garden with strong sculptural earthworks, water and landscape features create a space for contemplation and renewal. A cantilevered deck juts out from the pool house and is planted with a wild tall ornamental grasses that move with wind and animate the space.
Concept designed and sited a lake house building so that is sat in an optimal position, Axial to the house and new pool building roof but also to afford views over the lake and landscape. The Lake has two major parts, the first being a natural swimming pond with cantilevered decks, pontoons and walkways. This brings the lake into a usable state and is juxtaposed against a natural lake with reed beds and tall grasses that create a serine atmosphere, attracting wild life and adding to the local ecology.
